The Gables

Susanville is a sleepy town in the upper east corner of California.  It should probably not be considered part of California at all, but rather Nevada.  The landscape is mostly dry with patches of sagebrush, except for the green agricultural lands of Susanville.

We house shopped for a few weeks.  It was a very Goldilocks and the Three Bears situation; every place had something just not right about it, it was too small, too expensive, too close to a busy street... the list went on.  The very last tour was of a one bedroom apartment just outside of town, in an area called "The Gables."

It was too perfect and we fell in love straight away.  A yellow, two story apartment with stucco walls and wood floors, and two giant elms right outside to shade the house from the summer sun.  (Although realistically, the deciding factor was probably the fact that this was the only apartment that would do a six month lease.)  In any case, we got it and have been slowly settling in to our new home.

Thanks to our families, especially Aunt Teresa and Ian's mom who have been giving us things to help us settle in!
